Post Miscarriage Doctor's Appointments

If you didn't see My Miscarriage Story, you can read it by clicking the link.

After my miscarriage on 11/21/12, I had a couple of follow up visits with the doctor to make sure I was okay.

My first doctor's visit was on Tuesday, 11/27/12.  I went in and had my weight and blood pressure checked, then the nurse proceeded to hand me a cup for a urine sample.  I had not expected this.  I should have, but I just had a miscarriage, so I was not thinking.  I did not expect to have to tell anyone at the doctor's office but the OB/GYN NP about my miscarriage, but at this point I had to let my nurse know as well.  I looked up timidly, and stated, "I had a miscarriage the day before Thanksgiving.  Do you still need a urine sample?"  She said no, told me she was very sorry for my loss, and took me to my room.

The doctor came in shortly after.  She offered her condolences, talked with me and my fiance for a bit about the miscarriage and how we were, then sent me to have blood taken.

On Tuesday, 12/4/12, I went in again to have blood drawn.

Thursday, 12/6/12, the last appointment for the month.  I went in to talk to my OB/GYN NP about my lab results to see if I miscarried all tissue or if I would need a D&C.  My blood work showed that my HCG levels were at 9 (normal for a women who is not pregnant is 5 or below).  To ensure that everything was fine, the doctor wanted me to take a pregnancy test (instead of having blood drawn again).  The pregnancy test was negative.  The doctor said I was fine.  She suggested that I go on the depo shot to get my progesterone levels back up, if I did not want to try to get pregnant again right away.

Honestly, I wanted to try again right away.  I still kind of do, but I knew by getting the depo shot, I was helping my body heal, both physically and emotionally from the miscarriage.  So, I got the depo shot.  For the next three months (if not more), I will have time to heal and prepare for when we want to try to get pregnant again.

6 Weeks

10/11 thru 10/17

{W6D2}

*Maternity clothes?*
Nope.

*Stretch marks?*
Not yet!

*Sleep?*
Sleeping longer, better hours now.  Still having some crazy dreams.

*Best moment this week?*
My doctor's appointment when they confirmed my pregnancy and eased some of my worries by answering my questions.

*Miss anything?*
Not yet.

*Movement?*
Still too early.

*Food cravings?*
I am still craving sweets, especially cinnamon rolls.

*Anything making you queasy or sick?*
Typical nausea throughout the week {no vomiting still! - yay!}, then on W6D6, I got extremely nauseous from the simplest smells.  Also, my prescription causes nausea, so yea, that sucks!

*Gender?*
Too early to tell.

*Labor signs?*
Way to early for these.

*Belly button in or out?*
Definitely in.

*Mood?*
Feeling better since I am almost through with my prescription, but still having crazy mood swings.  I go from laughing to crying to angry to laughing again in such little time, it is outrageous.  I am also getting super annoyed, super easily these days.

*Looking forward to?*
Finishing my prescription on Friday, 10/19.

*Maternity clothes?*
Definitely not!

*Stretch marks?*
Still no new ones!

*Sleep?*

My 1st Doctor's Appointment

October 5, 2012

My appointment was at 3:30 P.M., but I was told to arrive at 3 P.M. so that I could fill out the required paperwork.

I arrived on time, received all my paperwork, filled it out, and turned it in by 3:30 P.M.  Then I sat there and sat there and sat there some more!

At 4 P.M., I went up to the front desk to see if everything was okay or if I missed them calling my name.  I was told that I had not missed anything, but I was next.

Then I sat there and listened as several more people were called!  Thirty minutes later, I am called back up to the front desk.  At this point, I am told that they are too busy, the doctor is backed up, and they will not be able to see me today.

This makes me quite angry and upset for several reasons:
*I am pregnant.
*I had an appointment {which I was on time for}.
*If they knew they were so busy, why did they not tell me earlier {or schedule me for a different day or time}.
*I had to pay to get a ride to the office.
AND,
*I am about to cry in public.

Needless to say, I did not get to see the doctor, and my appointment was rescheduled for almost a week later.
